Jim Harbaugh Claims "Only Uptight White People" Didn't Like His Rap Video

Michigan Wolverines football coach Jim Harbaugh won 10 games and lost three last season. This level of success required him to appear in a rap video by Bailey called Who’s Got it Better Than Us?, which was released a week ago.

The visuals are quite something. Harbaugh zips around campus in a fancy yellow sports car and barks out the song’s chorus with gusto.

In my role as this website’s music and Harbaugh critic, I openly admitted that the lyrics were catchy and burrowed into my brain. To say it another way: I didn’t hate it.

And it’s a good thing I wrote favorable things about the Michigan Man’s foray into the music video world, judging by his comments at Big Ten Media Days on Monday.

"“I had fun writing some of the lyrics. I had some input in that. I was in the video, it was fun, the feedback has been great. I’ve gotten texts from people, people have stopped me and told me ‘that’s really good,’ ” Harbaugh said. “We did not embarrass ourselves with that. It was a respectable song and video. All cool people like it. “It’s only uptight white people that don’t like it, man.”"

Whew. Dodged a bullet there. Nothing worse in this world than being a fun-hating Caucasian.

It’s a good thing Harbaugh cleared this up because most people were operating under the assumption reaction to the video was shaped by team allegiance, not race. Guess it was pretty foolish to think Michigan fans loved it and those who don’t like Michigan disliked it.

To be fair, no sane person would accuse Harbaugh of being hypocritical. He’s as far from uptight as they come. A little intense, if you ask me, but certainly not a stick-in-the-mud.
