Jets (on ESPN) Crush Yankees (on TBS) in TV Ratings Nationally and in New York

Nationally:

Texans at Jets, ESPN: 10.0
Yankees at Orioles, TBS: 3.6

Locally in New York:

Texans at Jets, ESPN & WWOR: 13.8
Yankees at Orioles, TBS: 11.0

Mike Francesa likes to call New York a “baseball town,” but we’ve now seen the Yankees, in the middle of a pennant race, get beaten in the ratings by an early-season Browns/Ravens game.

And now the Yankees, in the postseason, aren’t as big of a TV draw in Gotham as the Jets, who are the 2nd most popular football team in New York and a raging grease fire?

Question for the ratings folks at Nielsen: When fans of both teams were obviously switching back and forth all night, how does that factor into the final number?

For fun, non-sports: These shows dominated broadcast TV at the end of September: NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, The Big Bang Theory (never seen an episode), Vegas, Dancing with the Stars, and Person of Interest.
