Jeff Hornacek has been hired as new head coach of the Knicks, according to Howard Beck from Bleacher Report. This comes as somewhat of a surprise. There were many Knicks fans and media who were concerned that Phil Jackson would bring back Kurt Rambis, who he’s familiar with but who, to put it nicely, does not have a bona fide track record.

That’s not to say Jeff Hornacek has been uber successful previously either. In 2.5 seasons as a head coach, his Suns teams went 101-112. So, this isn’t the disaster some feared, but it also could not be categorized immediately as a slam dunk hire.
