Derrick Henry and Hunter Renfrow each scored two first-half touchdowns in the College Football Playoff national championship game. The Heisman Trophy winner’s production was expected. Renfrow, on the other hand, is having his best game on the biggest stage.

The wide receiver declined offers from FCS schools for the opportunity to pursue his dreams at Clemson — which has turned out to be mutually beneficial for both parties.

A high school quarterback who thought his future was in baseball, Renfrow came to campus last fall as a 160-pound preferred walk-on. He was awarded a scholarship by Dabo Swinney at a team retreat in August after putting on 15 pounds of muscle and also serves as the team’s backup punter.
