Gina Carano and Georges St. Pierre, two of the prettiest people in mixed martial arts, will star in a remake of “Kickboxer.”  Jean Claude Van Damme, who is basically GSP’s hero, will also be involved, as will Dave Bautista. The original Kickboxer was released in 1989 and had a budge of $1.5 million dollars. I’m guessing you add a zero and triple that number to get in the ballpark of the remake’s budget.

Since we know absolutely nothing about who will play what, all we can do is blindly speculate. Will GSP or Gina be the lead? This won’t be the biggest movie either Carano or GSP has been involved in with Gina playing a decent-size role in Fast Six and GSP playing a villain in Captain America: Winter Solider.

There had been speculation, rumblings and rumors that GSP was close to returning to the UFC, but if he’s going to have a major role in Kickboxer, maybe that return isn’t so imminent. Carano has been getting steady work in movies and hasn’t fought in five years so any speculation about her joining the UFC was always just to drum up publicity and pageviews. (Yeah? So?) Either way, I am immediately moving the Kickboxer remake onto the list of my most anticipated films of 2016.
