Dustin Pedroia Has Been Placed on the 15-Day Disabled List

No Pedroia? No more Youkilis? And obviously no Papelbon? What has happened to Cobra Kai? It’s getting less and less fun with each bit of passing news.
According to the report, tests on Pedroia’s jammed right thumb revealed a new injury, thus landing the scrappy little sparkplug on the DL. He’ll likely return to action on July 19. In the mean time, replacing the rapidly balding “little person” will be Nick Punto.
Pedrioia had initially injured the thumb after popping up an inside pitch back in June against the Marlins. The lesson here for the kids at home: Stop popping up pitches like a weakling and put the ball in play like a real man. Or something.
