Drew Brees Signed Five-Year $100 Million Contract, With Record $60 Million Guaranteed

Brees receives $40 million in year one and $15 million in year two. The Saints have a window to cut him after the second year, but that would be a bit silly, since he would be due just a $5 million payment and $1 million in salary for the third year.
That $40 million should make Brees, in terms of salary, the highest-paid team sport athlete in the world. Lisk will probably have more advanced metrics later, but, to the layman, it’s hard to argue he’s not worth it.
