Drew Brees threw a very un-clutch interception late and the New Orleans Saints lost by 3 to the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night. After the game Brees complained about the mere existence of Thursday Night Football and blamed it for all of the injuries the Saints suffered during the loss. Via ESPN:

"“It’s 100 percent a product of playing on Thursday night,” Brees said. “Do you understand what guys’ bodies go through in a game? And then to have to turn around four days later and to play? Look at the injury studies: They’re off the charts. They’re off the charts. So is this smart as it pertains to guys’ health and safety? No, absolutely not.”"

On Thursday night Saints players Alvin Kamara, Senio Kelemete, A.J. Klein, Kenny Vaccaro, Trey Hendrickson and Ted Ginn Jr. all left the game with injuries.

It’s been almost a year since Richard Sherman penned hate mail to Thursday Night Football in the virtual pages of The Players Tribune. Last month he tore his Achilles on a Thursday. Meanwhile, fans have quietly complained by not showing up to watch the sub-par product. And others have more loudly complained because Thursday Night Football really is bad most of the time. There are other options, but TNF will never completely go away.
