Dmitri Young, once known as “D’MeatHook,” has shed more than his multi-million dollar baseball card collection since leaving MLB. He was spotted last night at Great American Ballpark for the Reds vs. Nationals game, looking about half the 300-plus he played at toward the end of his career, while battling diabetes and substance abuse issues.
Watching him routinely lose his helmet charging for an extra base was the definite highlight of being a Tigers partial season ticket holder in the summer of ’03. Well, that and having an entire section to oneself.
