Here’s something that might (unofficially) be a first in Premier League history — Chelsea carried Didier Drogba off the field by teammates in the 28th-minute of the season-closing game with Sunderland at Stamford Bridge. Drogba announced on Sunday that he is leaving the club where he won the Premier League four times, including this season. The veteran striker’s most-famous goal came against Bayern Munich in the 2011-12 Champions League final, where he helped will the Blues to eventual victory in penalty kicks.

Chelsea plans to celebrate its title at Stamford Bridge later today. Diego Costa replaced Drogba and scored a penalty shortly after coming on.

Excessive gesture or fitting tribute to a club legend? You decide.
