David Stern on James Dolan Email: "That’s almost beneath the commissioner’s duties”

Former NBA Commissioner David Stern has weighed in on Knicks owner James Dolan’s retaliatory email to a disgruntled fan. Like his replacement, Adam Silver, Stern did not believe that speculating the fan was an alcoholic warranted punishment. Ohm Youngmisuk has the quotes at ESPN New York:

In reality, this email doesn’t even scratch the surface of the Clippers and Hawks scandals of the past year. I also have a wholly unsubstantiated theory that the other members of the ownership fraternity love having Dolan around — and, with apologies to my new colleague Rob Perez, this isn’t a ban-worthy offense — because who doesn’t want a sucker at their poker table?
