David Luiz Has In Fact Had Sexual Intercourse Per David Luiz

David Luiz is no stranger to be joked about on the Internet. Last summer he completed an eyebrow-raising $70+ million transfer from Chelsea to PSG — the highest on record for a defender. Then he was at the center of Brazil’s humiliating 7-1 loss to Germany in the World Cup semifinals on home soil. Last month he was skinned by Lionel Messi in the Champions League, sending the floppy-haired defender once again into the meme-grinder.

Now Luiz, 28, is making headlines again and, frankly, it’s kind of depressing. Earlier this week Luiz, a member of the Brazil-based Athletes for Christ organization, posted a picture on Instagram where he was shown being baptized in the pool. In the caption he noted he would wait for sex with his current girlfriend until they were married.

This posting was apparently spun into global headlines he’s a virgin. There was enough chatter for him to tell the BBC otherwise:

"“People are saying things everywhere about whether I’m a virgin or not,” Luiz told BBC’s Football Focus. “I’m not a virgin. I’ve had more than one girlfriend in my life.” He added: “Some people in the press don’t respect people in life. I can put my head on my pillow and sleep great because I respect everyone.”"

Respect? On the Internet? Ha! There’s a novel thought.
