Creighton’s Devin Brooks wound up with one of the more creative assists you’ll ever see during Thursday night’s Big East quarterfinal against DePaul. He threw the ball off the backboard in what looked to be an alley-oop attempt. Instead of flying into the fifth row, the ball took a fortunate bounce right into the hands of teammate Austin Chatman, who promptly drained a 3-pointer.

Now do it again, Brooks.

It was that kind of night for the Blue Jays at Madison Square Garden. Star Doug McDermott scored 27 points in the first half — a record for points in a single half of the Big East tournament. He finished with 35 thanks to 7-for-10 shooting from 3-point range. Creighton won 84-62.
