Clay Helton Named Permanent USC Head Coach
By Kyle Koster

USC will make interim head coach Clay Helton’s position permanent, the university announced. Helton, who has also been serving as the Trojans’ offensive coordinator, has gone 5-2 since taking over for Steve Sarkisian earlier this year. USC faces Stanford in the Pac-12 championship game on Saturday.
Helton is not the type of splashy name many would expect to land the gig. Especially since Chip Kelly speculation has been prevalent.
Was told USC officials spoke w Chip Kelly this weekend. Guess didn’t get right vibe. Clay Helton gets the job https://t.co/sNnVtyuq1F
