Chris Colabello has been suspended for 80 games as a result of a positive steroid test. The culprit, a good old-fashioned steroid, or as Jayson Stark puts it in describing dehydrochlormethyltestosterone, “an old-school East German doping agent.”

Colabello, first baseman for the Toronto Blue Jays, had what you might call a career year last year, along with a lot of other guys in Toronto, when the team put up huge offensive numbers. He had 15 home runs at age 31 last year, more than half of his career total, and his slugging percentage was way higher than anything he had done before.
