Chicago Tribune Sports Section Has Clever Headline for Late Blackhawks Win

The Blackhawks eked out a triple overtime thriller to tie up the Western Conference Finals with Anaheim at one game apiece. The Tribune headline was, I’d like to hope, a nod to Andrew Shaw’s unfortunately disallowed header goal in double overtime:

Chicago’s game winner came much more conventionally, from Marcus Kruger in front of the net. In any event, this game ended super late, and the Blackhawks social media account did that thing where they presume to have authority to excuse their fans from work:

There aren’t many cities in America where this type of thing would fly from a hockey team, but the whole of Chicago is super into the Hawks. Anecdotally — based on secondary market ticket prices, and the amount of apparel I see on the streets — they’ve passed the Bulls in popularity. Not much work is gonna get done in Chicago today.
