Chicago Cubs World Series Hype Has Reached a Fever Pitch

When win total over-unders came out a few weeks ago, the Chicago Cubs’ 89 were second only to the 90 projected for the San Francisco Giants.

But it appears the public is banding together to drive that number upward. At one sportsbook, literally no one has taken the under.

There is no reason the Cubs shouldn’t make the postseason if they stay healthy. Advancing to the National League Championship Series last year was progress and Joe Maddon’s team should benefit from the experience.

That said, the pure volume of bettors banking on a 107-year World Series drought being broken is interesting. As a nation we must have lost our respect for mysticism and curses. Who knew all it took was the offseason acquisition of Jason Heyward?
