Caroline Wozniacki ran the New York City Marathon in 3:26:33 this past Sunday. Especially considering she basically did it without training (her longest run was 13 miles), that’s pretty damn good! The Wall Street Journal spoke to a physician that said the tennis star could shave some of that time off if she were on a running workout regimen.

"Michael Joyner, a physician at the Mayo Clinic and veteran marathoner who specializes in time extrapolations, posited that at 5 feet 10, Wozniacki would most likely be better suited to swimming or rowing. Still, Joyner added, Wozniacki could get 10% better from training and another 10% better by getting super-skinny. Or, “if she was a closet aerobic animal you might get 25%,” he wrote in an email."

Optimal conditions would then push Wozniacki into the lower 2:30’s, which would be a little over five minutes off Mary Keitany’s winning time. Seems like a whole lotta effort when Woz is already p. good at a sport that garners far greater revenue.
