With the suspended J.R. Smith out of the lineup for Game 4 and Quentin Richardson improbably getting some playing time, Carmelo Anthony naturally took things into his own hands, shooting a horrific 10-for-35 including 0-for-7 from three-point range. Yes, there will be a Game 5. Possibly more amazing than ‘Melo’s dreadful showing — though that would seem damn near impossible to top — is that the Celtics needed overtime to win this game.

The Knicks, down by 20 at one point, actually took their first lead of the game with a little over a minute to play in regulation. Sadly, that brief moment of elation was quickly trumped by Carmelo’s terrible, forced shooting. This mess of a performance will be remembered for quite some time thanks to its glaring awfulness.

‘Melo and the Knicks have two long days to think about this one. Luckily for him, the scene shifts back to New York for Game 5 on Wednesday night.
