The Cardinals have fired scouting director Chris Correa, who has reportedly admitted to hacking the Astros database. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch has some details:

If you recall, news emerged last month that the Cardinals front office was being investigated by the FBI for hacking the Astros, whose general manager Jeff Luhnow was previously in the Cardinals scouting department, and has denied stealing proprietary information from his former team. Cardinals chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. and general manager John Mozeliak have denied involvement or knowledge.

The whole story is still somewhat of a tangled mess and it’s presently unclear whether Correa is a sacrificial lamb — if he didn’t leak the Astros data and wasn’t responsible for additional hacks, who did/was? — or was a major ringleader in the data breach.
