Butch Jones: Tennessee Players Have Won "The Championship Of Life"
By Ty Duffy

The SEC East is at its lowest ebb in a while. The Tennessee Volunteers blew their inside track, losing to an undermanned South Carolina. That permitted Florida to clinch the division at LSU on Saturday. Vols coach Butch Jones had some thoughts today.
Jones asserted that Tennessee’s goal every year is to win a championship.
Jones: “Our goal every year is to win a championship. This football team has a lot to play for”

Jones: "I want to make it clear that winning a championship is the No. 1 goal in our program year in and year out"

Note that Jones said his team’s goal is to win “a” championship. Not “the” championship. Tennessee still has a “bowl game championship” on the line.

Jones’ seniors have been at Tennessee four years with him, without winning the SEC East. But, by being close to Butch Jones, these seniors have apparently won “the championship of life.”

No word on how one tabulates the championship of life, whether rings and banners are appropriate, or whether Jones earns a contractual bonus for attaining it. One presumes the multiple players booted from the team as part of a multi-million-dollar sexual assault lawsuit missed out on the life championship.
A born salesman is going to sell, but, man, that’s just depressing.
