Tsarnaev was taken to a local hospital. He is in serious condition, according to Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis.
Authorities cornered the 19-year-old on a boat in the backyard of a Watertown home less than an hour after telling residents it was safe to leave their homes.
A Franklin St resident said: after looking into the boat to fix the cover, another resident saw blood - and then called 911. #ABCWorldNews

Tactical teams then moved in, using thermal imaging and flash grenades, and gunfire was exchanged. Bystanders reported Tsarnaev was covered in blood.
The suspects’ father, who has maintained his sons’ innocence, is on his way to the United States and is pleading with Dzhokhar to be forthcoming with information.
While all this was happening, three people were taken into custody in New Bedford as part of the investigation.
