Oakland Athletics rookie outfielder Billy Burns left Friday night’s game in San Francisco with an injury most professional baseball players dread — a testicular contusion. Burns fouled off a ball that skipped off the ground and bounced into a very sensitive area on the body.

Oh but it gets worse. Here’s what Burns told the San Franciso Chronicle after the game:

"“I was sick to my stomach. Been icing it constantly,” Burns said. “I’ve never been squared up like that, and the pain was pretty terrible.”"

(Ouch.)

And if you’re wondering, testicular contusion was the official way the team announced the injury.
