Ben Roethlisberger has a torn meniscus in his left knee that will require surgery. There is no timetable for the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback’s return.

As noted above, Roethlisberger could potentially return for the team’s November 6 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, but that seems like rushing him back. It’s more likely that he’s out for a while. Landry Jones will start in his place.

Big Ben was injured during the second quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins when he attempted to make a tackle during an interception return. He walked back to the locker room under his own power but eventually returned to finish the game.

The injury and news of his impending surgery completely changes the complexion of Pittsburgh’s season.
