Shawn Oakman was a Baylor football star. Shawn Oakman was indicted on a felony sexual assault charge. Baylor, who fired Art Briles and are embroiled in a huge scandal concerning the mishandling of sexual assaults, still allow Shawn Oakman to hang around the football facility.

Oakman attended the Rice game and was in the locker room afterward.

Baylor QB Seth Russell went to bat for Oakman, asserting he was “a great guy, just in a bad situation” and Baylor players are “not gonna hold anything against him.”

New head coach Jim Grobe claimed he does not know who Shawn Oakman is and may be the first person in history not to pick the 6’9″ 280-pound former All-Big 12 defensive end at the center of a huge scandal that saw him hired at Baylor out of a crowd.

One could ask how Oakman, felony sexual assault charge pending, has not been banned from Baylor facilities. One could also ask how it’s possible the interim head coach and the team’s starting quarterback had zero preparation on how to talk about this to the media.
