Bartolo Colon flirted with a perfect game today against the Seattle Mariners. He was as close as a Bartolo Colon could come to a perfect game at this stage of his career. Colon went 6 and 2/3 innings without allowing a base runner before New York traitor Robinson Cano singled to left field in the bottom of the 7th, ruining the fun of everyone everywhere.

Update: Colon’s final line:

Before today’s start the Mets were reportedly looking to trade Colon, but weren’t attracting many suitors as Colon had followed a strong June with a miserable July. You know, until today when he almost became a New York Mets legend.

We are just over two years removed from Johan Santana’s no-hitter – still the first and only no-no in Mets history. Now let’s look back at the other highlights of Colon’s season.
