Auburn wide receiver D’haquille Williams is expected to be one of the most impactful college football players in the country this year. Experts predict he’ll make big waves in the SEC and possesses legitimate NFL talent.

The only fly in the ointment is the soap operatic saga surrounding him this offseason. First he was suspended before January’s Outback Bowl for an undisclosed violation of team rules. Then he tweeted cryptic messages suggesting he wasn’t happy with the program and was searching for greener pastures.

Everything appeared to be “Gucci” after a sit-down with his position coach. Until yesterday, when Williams was absent from practice due to “personal business.”

Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee did not issue a timetable for Williams’ return and seemed to take the absence in stride.

"“We’ve got 105 kids on this team, and they all have different things going on in their lives,” Lashlee said. “We’re here to coach them, we’re also here to mentor them and help them through things. It’s just part of the process. He’s no different than guys we’ve coached in the past. Everybody has a different story.”"

Surely all Auburn fans have a similar calm perspective on their best player being in limbo. That’s what makes Paul Finebaum’s how such a boring listen. Just measured take after measured take.
