Oh, Liverpool

After taking a 1-0 lead, Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke  scored this equalizer…

…and Fabian Delph then put Villa in front for good with this BEAUTY of a game-winner…

It’s another disappointing end to a campaign led by skipper Brendan Rogers, as Villa had not defeated Liverpool in the FA Cup tournament since 1897. This + Borussia Dortmund’s Jürgen Klopp readying his departure from his Bundesliga club this offseason — makes you think that Rogers may be on his way out…

As for Steven Gerrard, the dream of a third-career FA Cup title + playing his last game of English Football in the FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium (on his 35th birthday, nevertheless) — is dead. Gerrard made his 36th appearance at Wembley today, returning to the lineup/taking the armband from Jordan Henderson, and the perfect sendoff to his career was supposed to be on the big stage in the Cup Final vs.Arsenal.

Villa does not share Liverpool’s lust for fairy tales.

Anyways, the weirdest part about this win is that despite making the FA Cup Final … Aston Villa STILL hasn’t qualified for the Europa League yet — as they’ll need a win vs. Arsenal to be included in the field.

Stay weird, Soccer…
