The best soap opera going in the NFL this year had several well-conceived dramatic story lines running through today’s episode. First, the plucky quarterback pulled out of the stands to start for the first time since before a lot of stuff happened on the internet ended up getting hurt.

But it doesn’t end there.

Everyone saw Jimmy Clausen get drilled with a helmet-to-helmet hit from Ziggy Ansah.

However, he remained in the game, and today, in already ruling him out for next week, the Bears released a statement.

That means that smokin’ Jay Cutler is coming back after being benched for one week, a decision that didn’t sit well with at least one player, kicker Robbie Gould.

"“I think, for me, being around the organization for, now, 10 years, seeing guys like Charles Tillman and Lance Briggs, who most likely have walked through the tunnel for the last time, it’s tough because we weren’t taught this way under Lovie (Smith, former head coach). We weren’t taught to do these sort of things and we always stayed together as close-knit as we possibly could. You don’t have to like everyone. You don’t need to like everyone. But you have to respect them and show up to work and go to work every day for those people. So I think it’s very difficult because, honestly, this isn’t the Chicago Bear way.”"

Trestman responded to those statements at his press conference today.

Sounds like fun in Chicago. Well, at least everyone has Jay Cutler’s back now and what’s in the past is in the past.

See ya, brother!

Stay tuned for next week’s exciting episode of “As the Chicago Bears Turn.”
