Andrew Bogut is out for the rest of the season thanks to a freak collision with J.R. Smith during Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The Golden State Warriors center blocked Smith’s shot, but was injured as she came down awkwardly and got tangled with the Cleveland Cavaliers guard. On Thursday he implied that Smith may have been responsible for the injury.

When asked if he was hurt on a normal basketball play, Bogut didn’t seem sure:

"“I don’t know how he fell and all that, but tough for interpretation. “I blocked his shot. Somehow he cannon-balled right into my shin with his shoulder. It was painful.”"

There is no way you can watch footage of Bogut being injured and not see it as a random collision in a basketball game. It was the kind of play that happens 100 times in any contest but in this case, Bogut’s left leg was taken out.

Don’t believe me? Watch:

Smith did nothing wrong there.

Look, I get that Bogut is frustrated. He suffered serious bone bruises, will miss the rest of the finals and is likely out for the 2016 Summer Olympics as well. Despite that he should have stepped up and exonerated Smith. It’s obvious the Cavs guard wasn’t trying to hurt Bogut.
