5. John Wetteland. Went on to have two nice years with the Yankees. Hope he’s doing well.

4. Junior Noboa. What’s not to love about this baseball card? Who grins like that while trying to turn a double play? Plus, there’s something about the first name “Junior.”

3. Andre Dawson. The Hawk. What was up with his 1987 year with the Cubs? Those 49 homers and 137 RBI came from nowhere … in the three years before and after, he didn’t top 27 homers and 100 RBI. Things that make you go hmmm?

2. Tim Raines. Everyone likes Tim Raines.

1. Vladimir Guerrero. In his prime, jeez this guy was dominant.

Not on the list: Pedro Martinez, because as a Yankees fan, we are conditioned to dislike all Red Sox. Also, Gary Carter, because he played for the Mets, and because if we had to pinpoint a moment when the Hall of Fame became the Hall of Very Good, it was when Gary Carter was voted in.

Just missed – Mike Mordecai, Spike Owen. [photo: Getty]
