Alex Rodriguez Drops Lawsuits Against MLB, Will Accept Suspension for All of 2014

Alex Rodriguez is finally done with his showdown against Major League Baseball. Today, he withdrew all lawsuits against MLB and the MLBPA to overturn his 211 game suspension. He will sit out the entire 2014 season.
This brings to an end (maybe, unless something else changes) a bizarre saga that left neither Rodriguez or baseball coming out looking particularly well, though in the end, MLB got their man. Originally, there was talk of a lifetime ban before the 211 game suspension was imposed. MLB still looked bad during the investigation, particularly with the allegations that they impeded a state agency‘s investigation into Anthony Bosch, and questions that still linger about just how they got the records.
Along the way, we got plenty of entertainment in the form of lawyer conflicts. Now, we can get back to baseball. Well, most of us. Rodriguez will be 38 (and turn 39 in July of 2015) when he returns to baseball.
