"“He says, ‘You know, I don’t think they’re running hard enough.’ Eric [Sugarman, the trainer] allowed him to go out and run with them, and he passed them four different times. He finished in first four different times.”"

How great is that? The best player, coming off a serious injury, showing teammates how to work tirelessly to try to get back. He still has a long road ahead to be ready for the season opener. According to Frazier, Peterson has been doing straight ahead running for a month, and recently started some cutting but will need to work on the cutting next. He’s got more than three months to get to top shape.

In case you missed it from last weekend, I discussed Adrian Peterson and where I would have him ranked in fantasy football given the injury, depending on when he is able to return. I am apparently optimistic, but in light of news like this, I don’t think betting on Peterson is a bad wager. I like going with elite talent, and if this is one sign that he will be ready to start the opener, I don’t think that 4-6 range at running back is ridiculous, even coming off the injury.
