The $60 million football stadium in Allen, Texas, which was approved for construction in 2009 and briefly opened in 2012, remains unsafe for use. According to the Dallas Morning News, an engineering analysis of the stadium revealed that support structures at the concourse level were unable to handle an adequate weight capacity.

Because repairing the stadium’s deficiencies, which also include a bevy of cracks in the concrete along the concourse, would take an estimated 6-8 months (which, from afar, still seems rather optimistic), Allen will pay $5,300 per contest to play its home games in neighboring Plano.

Superintendent Lance Hindt says that taxpayers won’t shoulder the burden of repairing the stadium; though there hasn’t yet been any litigation against the construction companies, it sure sounds like that’s coming.
