Two Big Ten contenders will collide at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Saturday as Iowa welcome Ohio State to their shores hoping to hand the Buckeyes a third consecutive defeat.

No. 16 Ohio State have lost only three games this season, and two of those have come against fellow Big Ten inhabitants Michigan State and Rutgers since the beginning of 2019.

Iowa will be striving to capitalize upon the Buckeyes’ torrid start to 2019, as they’ve tripled their number of losses for the campaign in less than a week and have fallen three places in the rankings as a result.

Ohio State (12-3) last lost three games in succession back in February 2017—they failed to lose more than two in a row during the 2017-18 campaign—and coach Chris Holtmann will be eager to keep that record intact.

Holtmann was perfect against Iowa in his first year in charge at Ohio State, beating the Hawkeyes in each of their two regular-season matchups by an average of 14.5 points.

Iowa are 13-3 this season, and while they may not hold a ranked position like their impending foes, they have shown huge improvement from last season and have lost six games fewer than they had at this point of the 2017-18 campaign.

The Hawkeyes’ junior forward Tyler Cook has averaged 8.3 rebounds per game this season and will be one in particular to watch for the hosts, with Ohio State under pressure to perform in foreign territory.
