Prince Fielder Filed for Divorce in May, Is It the Reason Behind His Missing Power?

Torii Hunter went on a Detroit talk radio show this week and hinted that Prince Fielder struggles this summer are tied to some off-field issues. After this revelation, reporters grilled Fielder and he said everything was “fine.”

Things aren’t fine with Fielder. He’s getting a divorce. Larry Brown Sports first confirmed Fielder was in the process of a divorce Wednesday night. Thursday morning, the Detroit-area papers have combed through court documents in Florida that back up the fact Fielder and his wife, Chanel, filed for divorce in late May. The Fielders were married in 2005 and have two sons, Jadyn and Haven.

Fielder is batting a career-low .262 with only eight home runs since the start of June. His slump at the plate hasn’t affected the Tigers all that much as they own the second-best winning percentage in the American League and lead the Central by six games over the Indians.
