USA Today released its college football coaches poll. With no games played, take it with a grain of salt. Mack Brown will be happy to begin the season ranked ahead of Oklahoma. Here are the Top 25 and a few thoughts.

1. Alabama
2. Ohio St.
3. Oregon
4. Stanford
5. Georgia
6. Texas A&M
7. South Carolina
8. Clemson
9. Louisville
10. Florida
11. Notre Dame
12. Florida State
13. LSU
14. Oklahoma State
15. Texas
16. Oklahoma
17. Michigan
18. Nebraska
19. Boise State
20. TCU
21. UCLA
22. Northwestern
23. Wisconsin
24. USC
25. Oregon State

Teams that seem high: Georgia might be a bit of a reach. Clemson has one Top 25 SRS win in the regular season since 2010. Louisville is not surprising since people read too much into bowl games, but feels high objectively. We get Texas on paper. Still seems a bit of a reach for a team that has proven nothing in recent seasons. One would think USC would have to prove themselves after the disaster that was last season.

Teams that seem low: Voters could have been more charitable to Notre Dame. Boise should be higher. We would have at least had Baylor in the Top 25. Oregon State could have gotten a greater benefit of the doubt. You could also make the case for Miami, Michigan State or Arizona State to get a look in there.
