Manti Te’o Got a Call Dec. 6th From the Dead Girlfriend’s Phone Saying She Faked Her Own Death to Avoid Drug Dealers (Seriously)
I don’t even know how to explain this one, and I won’t even make a feeble attempt at humor, so I’ll just direct you to this story the Star Advertiser just dropped:
Manti Te’o has told family and friends that the woman who was the voice of his fictitious girlfriend “Lennay Kekua” called him in December and said she had to fake her own death months earlier to elude drug dealers, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser has learned.
The woman, who has yet to be identified, tried to re-engage a relationship with Te‘o months after she supposedly had died of leukemia in early September, the Notre Dame All-American linebacker has told the people close to him. The account was shared with the Star-Advertiser by a source close to the Te‘o family.
According to the account, Te’o asked the woman to transmit a photo to him with a date stamp, which she did, but this did not allay his suspicions and he later told his family and Notre Dame officials about being scammed.
The good news here is that after getting played for at least nine months – or up to three years of missed meetings, lengthy phone calls, countless texts – Te’o finally decided that this cockamamie drug dealer story was hogwash, and decided to come clean to his parents and later, the school, that his internet girlfriend story might have been a little bit … fake.
Next question: Uh, if you got this call Dec. 6th, what took you 20 days to notify coaches and school? [Star Advertiser]

Forde said in his article that Te’o took a week and a half talking to this fake girl again in an attempt to piece the story together.

My drug dealer went missing last week, at this point I presume it’s related.

If Te’o legitimately had nothing to do with this, then he is the single stupidest person walking this planet.

Te’o probably responds to emails from Africa asking him to help with a problem taking money out of the country.

This guy is good. If the CIA doesn’t recruit him after all of this then this country is in trouble.

I know a guy I work with blow a few thousand bucks on the Nigerian scam where he met a girl on the internet and said she was stuck in Nigeria and she needed $1000.
So she sends him a bogus check for $4000 that looked legit and tells him to cash it and send 1K back to her through Western Union, and he can keep the rest and she will come back to the states and they can start a life together.
Well, the idiot cashed the check, it bounced and the bank needed to be repaid.

More lies.
I’m resigned to the fact that we’ll never know for sure what happened. Manti and his family will continue to put out their fairy tales, Notre Dame will continue to cover their ass, and various media outlets will put out their anonymous sourced stories.
There’s one thing I’m sure of and that is that Manti is a pathlogical lying narcissist.
