Charlie Weis is Becoming College Football’s Father Flanagan at Kansas, Has 16 JUCO Recruits Committed For 2013
Charlie Weis wants a quick reversal at Kansas. He plans to attain that with JUCO talent. Weis landed four-star defensive end Chris Martin out of City College of San Francisco, a former five-star recruit in 2010 who committed to Cal, transferred to Florida and left the Gators after a marijuana arrest. This alerted many to the fact he has 16 JUCO players verbally committed for 2013.
JUCO players can provide an instant talent infusion. They also often come with poor academic backgrounds or checkered pasts and have no connection with the program. Bringing in a couple such players is common. As Cam Newton and Nick Fairley showed, this can lead to great things, but bringing in 16, presuming the commitments hold, is an incredible number.
This can be successful. Bill Snyder brought in 17 JUCO players over two classes in 2011 and 2012 and has won 11 games this year. This can also fail miserably. Steve Kragthorpe brought in 19 over two classes in 2008 and 2009 and won one conference game. Given Weis’ program building track record at Notre Dame, this should be a concern, though one would have been just as concerned had he brought in all high school players.

I protest. Father Flanagan was not a fat fuck.
He did, however, give unwanted boys a decided schematic advantage.

Good hustle, Charlie. It isn’t easy to get the stench of East Coast Lew Perkins and Turner Gill out of the program.

This feels like you’re trying to say its a bad thing without having the balls to come out and say it. There are a lot of great kids who come up through the JUCO system. The stigma associated with it isn’t fair.

Fuck Aaron Rodgers, JUCO bitch.
Penn State just got a QB from some community college in Cali, were chasing some pighumper from Iowa, but luckily he went to KSU (because fuck Iowa).

When portly Charlie is driving the mean streets to talk to recruits he often finds himself stopped at intersections where female entrepreneurs are on offer. Charlie usually has the windows down as he is the sweaty type, suffice to say he hears the quote “a lot” often.

Bill Snyder used to always catch hell for JUCO’s and it’s like ESPN called the dogs off when he unretired. It’s like people are scared to pick on old folks or something.

Congrats KU – The University of Kansas.
The boys down the road have been whipping your butt for 25 years doing this exact same thing.
And your boy John Brown preached equality for everyone, except when it meant allowing somewhat-questionable people to enter that perceived, prestigious university.
One of the top 3 JUCO leagues in the country is named after your terrorist-themed mascot. Yet no one is Larryville ever noticed.
