World Cup: USMNT Beats Guatemala 3-1, Qualifies For Hex

The United States beat Guatemala 3-1 with two goals from Clint Dempsey and advanced to the final round of CONCACAF qualifying. Jamaica goes through as well in second place.

It was a very effective performance from the U.S. They attacked in the first half. They solidified in the second. The one worrisome place is at the back. The U.S. got beat over the top for an early Carlos Ruiz goal and looked out of their depth handling him much of the game. They will face teams with more speed and better depth and talent.

I was told earlier today by this site that this win qualifies the USMSNTMTN team for the World Cup.

Liestrong Soccer Park Stadium Complex was sold out for a couple weeks in advance for this. According to my official FB page, folks were very happy about all that went down. Good place to see a game I don’t care about. Clean, good selection of beer, and super easy parking with a whole bunch of bars/restaurants within walking distance. The Cerner guys did this up right.

beautiful goal there in the video; boca getting beat again is a concern. jurgin doing yeoman’s work IMO getting new players added to the mix; it’s on the job training all the time in the next round. the old re-treads wont get it done;
