Da’Rick Rogers of Tennessee Suspended Indefinitely for Violation of Team Rules
Da’Rick Rogers, Tennessee’s talented receiver who is likely high-round draft pick next April, has been suspended indefinitely from the team for “violation of team rules.”
Devastating blow to QB Tyler Bray and coach Derek Dooley. Bray is poised for a big season behind a solid offensive line and having crucial weapons like Rogers and Justin Hunter. The Vols offense returns 10 starters. It is unclear what Rogers did, but we’ll update the post as news becomes available.
[UPDATE: As a few of you have noted, the Vols have some nice depth at wide receiver. This depth chart has Vincent Dallas (sophomore), Zach Rogers (senior) and you can also toss in Cordarelle Patterson (JUCO transfer). But apparently this week, Dallas was moved to cornerback.]
[UPDATE: Coach Derek Dooley, addressing the media just now, said he "doesn't expect Rogers" to play for the Vols this season. Still no details on what happened.]

I bet he was smoking dope with DeAngelo Benton, who was also indefinitely suspended from Auburn yesterday, though Benton was never going to amount to much more than a guy who caught junk passes in the 4th quarter.
I was kind of hoping Tennessee would be resurgent this year so they would give UGA a run for their money. Oh well.
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:24 AM
Again all kicked off the team players should create their own Miami
Heat-esque D2 dream team.

God those are some ugly uni’s
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:25 AM
DeAnthony Arnett also transferred to MSU. Da’Rick will be back by the Florida game if not sooner.

Clearly a hoax, right? Right?
Shit looks like an animal cracker, MAN.

Rogers wrecked his car and fled the scene. At least that’s the story i’m getting from stoopid Vols fans.
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:35 AM
Whatever the Bama/Michigan line is as long as it’s under 22.
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:36 AM
why would you get suspended for wrecking a car and fleeing a scene? is this from a msg board?
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:37 AM
Patterson is apparently pretty good. Will give Hunter the attention he will eventually get as a top guy in the nation. But also more double teams.
Saw DaRick in a bar this summer. Gave him a bro hug. He was wearing the tank top that the kids are wearing these days. That’s probably why he’s suspended.
/say no to tank tops
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:39 AM
Because everybody knew you were shitfaced and you fled the scene because that’s a lesser offense than a DWI?
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:39 AM
why would you get suspended for wrecking a car and fleeing a scene
He’s basically been on probation from Dooley for being a prima donna, not showing up to practice, etc.
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:39 AM

August 23rd, 2012 at 10:40 AM
Really?
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:41 AM
i mean, if you can get suspended for something as silly as selling things that you personally own, why wouldnt this be suspension worthy since fleeing the scene is an actual crime?
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:42 AM

Apostrophes in first names should be outlawed.
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:42 AM
Hunter will be a 1st round pick next year and Da’Rick was considered at least a 2nd rounder before this.
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:43 AM
CJ – single car accident? alcohol/drugs involved? much more is needed (for me, at least).
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:44 AM
much more needed? he sold his tennessee football charm bracelet afterwards that he owned…SUSPEND HIM FOREVER.
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:44 AM

I’d have gone with a Silver Spoons hat tip and named him Da’Ricker.
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:45 AM
I like USC laying -7 vs. Vandy.
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:45 AM
If it was a single car accident, here’s my guess – his first phone call when he got away from the car was to Dooley or his WR coach because he had no idea what to do. Coach shows up on the scene and Da’Rick smells like a Rick Ross video.
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:46 AM
If this was Michigan. He’d only missed a couple snaps.

Say what now?
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:46 AM
Someone named their child Da’Rick??
My wife is a third grade teacher. One of her kids this year is named “Deja”. She asked the mother why she picked that name and her mother said “When she was born she just looked like a Deja.”
Difficult to argue with that.

We’re playing the ol’ Continue the Story Game, right?
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:48 AM
why would you get suspended for wrecking a car and fleeing a scene? is this from a msg board?
as some have already alluded to, Rogers was already on thin ice with Dooley and the program. he almost beat up the strength coach last year and, my guess, is that the cops are involved with this latest antic.
not from message boards, came from Knoxville friends, etc..
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:49 AM
making a counterpoint to TBL’s assertion that more info is needed when ohio state players got suspended for trading items they owned for tattoos, which is, i believe, legal to do, unlike fleeing the scene of an accident, which is most assuredly illegal.
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:50 AM
Took Vandy several times last year, Rodgers looked good in some of the starts he got, especially the FLA & UK games. High hopes for Vandy this year, I just think USC is stronger/better athletes. Road team is 6-2-1 ATS
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:50 AM
CJ – single car accident? alcohol/drugs involved? much more is needed (for me, at least).
word is he orignially reported the car stolen, but later reports he wrecked it and fled the scene.

Your program has serious flaws if your strength coach is getting his ass kicked.
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:57 AM

really reminiscent of the three illini hoops players who crashed a car, one of them got a consussion, the other two left him after calling a coach–not 911 to you know help their teammate. said they thought he was ok
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:59 AM
Mad Dog Madden laughs at any such program.
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:59 AM
Yes.
When Dooley looks over and sees the dead hooker slumped over in the dealer loaner 2013 Lincoln Navigator, he pauses.
When Dooley comes to his senses he places a call to the head trainer who arrives shortly thereafter with a shot of adrenaline. He administers it Pulp Fiction style into the hooker’s chest…

Now I’m hearing from friends he made contact with an agent. Seems a little mild. Wheres Lt. J-Mac??
August 23rd, 2012 at 12:14 PM
Yeah if it came from Hart, which is supposedly did, it is likely a compliance/agent issue. Rogers isn’t a drug guy, so I don’t think it’s a failed drug test. lol @ the car crash rumors too. Where did that come from?
