Steve Smith on the terrible holding call that likely cost the Panthers the game against the Vikings: “For a 70-year-old man gimping down the field, I guess that’s what he saw.”
you mean the one where he held? Yeah, that’s so unfair.

Just because. I would say it’s superstition to go along with the ‘no shaving til the Chiefs lose’ thing, but he wore hats like that last season and in Arizona too.

Bought me some Peanut Butter at Trader Joe’s last night, don’t remember being aghast at the price.
Side note — has anyone seen the move Bellflower? Apparently it was a Sundance darling and it cost the writer\director\lead actor $17,000 to make. It was shot in some self made camera. I don’t even know how to begin to describe the plot of the movie — I watched it last night, one of the craziest endings of any movie I’ve ever seen.
November 1st, 2011 at 8:45 AM
I heard a peanut butter speculator on CNBC this morning. I would expect them to keep rising until there is stability in Libya and Egypt.

I would love to hear someone else’s opinion on it. Because the descriptions and trailers really push the flame thrower/custom car thing, though the movie is not really about that per se. The flame thrower/custom car serves a broader purpose — I won’t say anything more. Just see it.

Rivers’ is a whiny douche, for sure, and Tebow “seems like a good guy,” but that’s neither here nor there. Most people are just tired of hearing about a quarterback who doesn’t warrant 1/100th of the attention he’s getting because he’s not very good.

do you really think she is that much better than Annika was at the time she tried it? Annika was pretty dominant and if I remember was never really in contention to even make the cut, but I could be wrong about that. she’s a different player than annika. annika was short but deadly accurate and never made the huge mistake…yani can bomb it. she’s what michelle wie should’ve been.
wie could’ve done it if she was more mature. hell, she still could do it…wie’s swing and physical ability is mindblowing.
again, depends on the course. yani could def make the cut at the sony at wailaile (sony open) or colonial, but she’d get trampled if it was on a 7,200+ yard behemoth. she’d be better off trying to do it at the dunhill links open on the euro tour where she can run shots up instead of having to carry hazards ala american courses.

I think the crux of the Tebow thing is that for him to be successful, he needs to start from the ground up, footwork, throwing motion, progression reads, etc.
Can he do it? Maybe. But it’s going to take longer than a typical rookie QB, and does Denver have that extra time to wait for him?

If you took Annika, Lorena, or Yani at the peak of their game, gave them their A game for 30 weeks, play the same schedule of a low-tier PGA player (75-150th ranked pga pro), they’d make 4-8 cuts, no top 10′s and have no chance of retaining a tour card.
You also have to realize if a woman played in a men’s event, no fluff shows up; if a guy is feeling sick he’d WD; no pga dude wanted to get lapped by Annika at Colonial.
And I say this not to put down the women’s games; but the fact is their courses are set up for scoring whereas the pga tracks are set up to penalize indifferent iron shots; The men miss in better spots, have way better chipping and lag putting, and deal w/ way more stress and have much better mental games than the women; I’d love to be proved wrong though.

November 1st, 2011 at 9:40 AM
Is that Organic? And what makes peanut butter organic?
organic peanut butter conceivably could have sugar, but usually doesn’t, as long as both the peanuts and the sugar were grown without pesiticides and growth hormone.
But the peanut butter you have to stir is just natural peanut butter, with nothing but mashed up peanuts. Good peanut butter is mashed up peanuts, some of the oil drained out, sugar as an emulsifier, and about a half dozen delicious additives.
And crunchy peanut butter is gross.

November 1st, 2011 at 9:41 AM
No, he’s just a fraud.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:42 AM
“Cuz your mental.”
November 1st, 2011 at 9:42 AM
what is the most flavorful peanut butter? I want to make some peanut butter cookies and I want the tastiest PB out there.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:42 AM
I’d love to see David Stern asnswer some questions that weren’t asked by Stuart Scott or Bob Costas.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:43 AM
and that’s why i mentioned the dunhill links championship on the euro tour moreso than having to carry everything. it levels the playing field.
and i’ll disparage the fuck out of the LPGA. it’s a horrible, horrible product and im sick of seeing caddies do every fucking little thing for the golfers.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:44 AM
He’s extremely smart and the show is great, but I don’t know about this. When a right-winger is on there it goes from interview to debate to him talking more than the guest. It’s his show so he can do whatever he wants, I guess.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:44 AM
Speaking of quarterbacks widely discussed here, is Tony Romo a HOFer or complete shit this week? I lost track
apparently, if you live in and around Dallas, they’d still like him taken out back and shot. But if you live in Bristol, CT, Rob Ryan ran his mouth enough to be the news this week. Oh, and Sean Lee dislocated his wrist, so it’s all Brooking all the time now.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:44 AM
i knock journalists like jon feinstein who rake a person over the coals because they weren’t nice to him. fuck that turkey necked cunt.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:45 AM
I thought we were supposed to include college starts when assessing NFL productivity?
/via the great JaMarkus Sanchize stat debate
November 1st, 2011 at 9:46 AM
So true. I would love to see him get grilled about his league, but that never happens. Dan Patrick and he used to spar a bit on his radio show, but that was a long time ago.
Feinstein comes off a massive prick.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:47 AM
I think I unfollow that guy 3 times a week. Then I have to re-follow him when he starts in on his “opinions,” and how they’re right.
I thought I was all alone…
November 1st, 2011 at 9:47 AM
Perhaps Ben gave him some tips after the game
November 1st, 2011 at 9:47 AM
So we’re now distinguishing between playoff wins and meaningful playoff wins?
November 1st, 2011 at 9:47 AM
It depends. If the right-winger is smart and can aptly defend his stance, like O’Reilly or Kristol, Stewart respects them and gives them plenty of opportunity to speak. He even gave John Yoo, the torture memo guy, a fair shake I thought.
But yeah, when a right-wing nut job comes on, Stewart will certainly get in a few swings. But he’ll take those at guys like Chris Matthews as well.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:48 AM
Stern is more myth and legend than substance, it’s become cool to pretend this guy has more power than the American Mafia during it’s golden age.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:49 AM
there was a segment on the jim rome show with stern that was great.
JR: A-RUGULA.
/bad joke
anyways, stern is getting pissy about the lockout so rome asks if he knows any jokes and stern says “no, but we can talk about the new WNBA champion.” then rome goes “is that the joke?” stern gets pissier. rome asks stern who the WNBA champion was and stern didn’t have an answer.
interview over.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:49 AM
Just start a “timeline cloggers” list and check every couple days or so. It’s much easier to do that with TBL and guys like Schefter and Glazer than it is to have them hogging 90% of your normal feed.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:49 AM
So he shouldn’t expose nut jobs?
November 1st, 2011 at 9:49 AM
Meaningful and unmeaningful wins earned by the quarterback. Analysis.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:50 AM
he could be like FOXNews and just not give the other side the opportunity to begin with.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:50 AM
dunhill at St. Andrews? Any rota track would be decent for a test; Maybe Disney or Memphis would be the only 2 stateside I could think of…
November 1st, 2011 at 9:51 AM
I have become more of a Colbert guy lately. His shtick has become so funny during this republican primary.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:51 AM
most political talk show guests are so good at spin you need to either talk for a good portion of the time and limit their potential responses or you have to really throw them a left curve with “gotcha” so you don’t get a canned response.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:52 AM
seriously.
dunhill’s got st. andrews, carnoustie and kingsbarns.
memphis and disney would chew her up…too many long carries.
and i still think if wie had her head on straight, she could compete with the men. she’s that talented.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:52 AM
The “nut jobs”, as you put it, will not go on his show.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:53 AM
His PAC should be taught in schools. It should be used to expose just how corrupt politics are. The money is just insane.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:53 AM
I’d love to see he and Hannity spar.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:54 AM
Peanut butter is ok but it is all about the almond butter my friends.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:54 AM
Don’t forget the 3 second delay between when people can hear each other to make sure the interview is completely unwatchable.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:54 AM
I think Stewart leaves that for guys like Bill Maher. Stewart has actually given plenty of grief to both sides of the aisle the past couple of years and has been candid about his disappointment with the current administration. I found all of this interesting as I wondered what direction he’d end up going as he wouldn’t have Dubya or Cheney as punching bags any longer.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:55 AM
CJ did your kitty make it through the day without heat ok? Any updates on when you’re getting power?
November 1st, 2011 at 9:55 AM
you can include any of the guys who cover the NBA on the regular. Aldridge, A. Smith, etc. Stern is a fraud.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:57 AM
This is why he can’t deride them when they come on his show, he has to tread carefully. Buddy Roemer went on fully expecting to be made fun of but Stewart was more than accommodating.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:57 AM
nice proofreading before putting up this post…..You might want to tidy up your opening cluster, TBL.
Go Bills!
November 1st, 2011 at 9:58 AM
He doesn’t hide his agenda and doesn’t pretend to be fair and balanced which is why I disagreed with this statement:
I didn’t say he should. It’s his show, but he treats Repubs and Dems differently in his interview segment.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:58 AM
His PAC should be taught in schools. It should be used to expose just how corrupt politics are. The money is just insane.
For a better tomorrow. Tomorrow.
Seriously though, I don’t know if it is his, but the Donors Choose organization is awesome. My wife has a couple teacher friends who have gone through them and say that this group is legit and has been a big help.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:59 AM
Minus the fact that almonds are disgusting.
The peanut butter I get nowadays is Justin’s chocolate peanut butter.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:00 AM
and i still think if wie had her head on straight, she could compete with the men. she’s that talented.
So she’s like the vast sum of Nationwide Tour, the Hooters Tour, and the Tornado Tour? Her putting is terrible; It will never be good, she just needs to have it be good a few weeks a year;
What players start as terrible putters then become anything better than average? Smoking hot though. Has about as much common sense as this keyboard too.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:00 AM
Wow. MLBTR has Yu Darvish ending up in Canada. That’d be a shocker, IMO.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:00 AM
As well he should, but I think he gives Repubs a fair chance to defend themselves. Whether they do so well, isn’t his problem.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:00 AM
i’ve found that most media people severely disappointed with the current administration had such high hopes they weren’t even realistic. they also waste a lot of time blaming the current admin instead of putting a brighter spotlight on the roadblock republicans.
on a side note, it’s interesting to watch the media slowly start to realize the GOP has no answers on jobs and they never will. it’s like watching a dog try to figure out a treat puzzle.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:01 AM
JIF chunky peanut butter. Everything else should GTFO
November 1st, 2011 at 10:02 AM
Oh yeah she’s good, she made herself a little fort underneath one of the blankets on my bed, stayed there until the power kicked on about 1:00 this morning.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:02 AM
“Indecent assualt”? Color me intrigued.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:03 AM
I saw one of their commentators freaking out because Jet Blue was going to be fined and the money was going to go to…gasp…THE GOVERNMENT!
November 1st, 2011 at 10:03 AM
that’s a great question.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:03 AM

jon stewart is fair. he mocks both sides for being douchebags
November 1st, 2011 at 10:10 AM
I’ve been wanting to grow mine out but the weather has been so warm lately I just couldn’t tolerate it.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:10 AM
I still get dirty thoughts when SG and CJ start talking about their kitties.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:11 AM
No joke, it’s stupid shit like that that had people not willing to say Aaron Rodgers was good until they won a playoff game last season and joust a guy putting up “fantasy stats”…Rivers’ team has won 14 games in a season twice, guessing there were big wins mixed in there along the way
November 1st, 2011 at 10:11 AM
What players start as terrible putters then become anything better than average?
The answer is nobody.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:11 AM

Aaron Rodgers isn’t good.
/sticks to guns

November 1st, 2011 at 10:12 AM
same here. i just put in new razor, so i think i’ll finish this one up before starting. i’ve got high expectations for my beard this year.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:13 AM
hell no…phil was an outstanding putter. still is on putts outside 3 feet.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:13 AM
I didn’t shave this morning, but it was because I was 50 minutes late.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:13 AM
And yet they campaigned on jobs, and haven’t presented one bill that doesn’t call for gutting all regulation and massive tax cuts for the uber-rich. I’m sure dumping benzene in our rivers and allowing for child labor will allow for the “job-creators” (aka job destroyers) to create millions of new jobs.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:14 AM
I still get dirty thoughts when SG and CJ start talking about their kitties.
That’s funny.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:15 AM
You assholes and your perfect facial hair growing capabilities.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:17 AM
I have become more of a Colbert guy lately. His shtick has become so funny during this republican primary
colbert is the best. he is so quick witted, and just awesome. For some reason, i keep watching bill maher. he blames everything on global warming, and it hurts his points. oh well.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:18 AM
to put mine in context, my mustache looks like Derick Hollands, and my beard like Lance Berkmans. it is far from perfect.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:19 AM
ah, got it. 2 different head coaches, few game reps against other teams … you’re right, PKI.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:21 AM
at this rate the media might actually be running with the facts by the time the election comes around, and the gop candidates will realize they fucked up bad.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:23 AM
I’m so sad with my beard this year. It was glorious last year. This year, something happened and now it doesn’t grow in at certain spots. Apparently stress related. I could qualify for the nickname of “patches” this year.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:24 AM
You keep picking the wrong season to say this what with the success of rookie QBs when they didn’t even get offseason work with the teams…apologists like you are the reason others root for him to fail so there’s the answer to your post question yesterday
November 1st, 2011 at 10:25 AM
I know he’s super likable, but why are you so insistant on pumping him up? He has just as many people who like him as he has those who don’t, so it’s not like he’s getting an unfair portrayal. I love how coaches see a guy in practice for months and months, yet the idiot fans and writers clamor to see the 3rd string guy as if there isn’t a reason why he’s third string. Then he sucks, and it’s because the coaches didn’t give him enough reps. Yeah, that’s why. The dude just isn’t very good. There’s nothing wrong with admitting that. It is what it is. When he’s a host on Gameday in 5 years no one will give a shit about this.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:25 AM
you can blame certain things on that instability of the coaching staff, but actual mechanics and decision making ability is something that should be able to prevail over those circumstances, showing that he’s at least a competent QB.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:26 AM
Why so angry, TBL?
November 1st, 2011 at 10:26 AM

A Republican isn’t going to get drilled any worse on that show than the Republican Congressman from Ohio did on Morning Joe a few weeks back. It isn’t about bias, it’s about a lack of a plan from Republicans.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:28 AM
He’s getting ready for how angry he’ll be when the Jets lose next week in Buffalo
November 1st, 2011 at 10:35 AM
No fun in rooting for the Christian fundamentalist to become President if he sucked in his first job out of college.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:36 AM
Cris Carter and Keyshawn Johnson did everything but laugh in Tom Jackson’s face on Sunday after Jackson was glowing about his visit with Elway and watching Tebow.
November 1st, 2011 at 11:34 AM
Once when I worked in a small office with about ten other people, we would all take turns playing music. I would put my ipod on shuffle, and quickly skip any song that I thought no one else would be in to (I have a lot of metal etc).
The one time I exited the room for a few minutes and just let my ipod play whatever, I came back and saw in horror that the previous song had in fact been “Cop Killer”.
My co-workers were always cool with metal or whatever, they would just make fun of me for listening to it. But after they heard “Cop Killer”, I could see genuine disgust on their faces.
