Seahawks Take Out Ad to Salute Matt Hasselbeck
Matt Hasselbeck’s 10-year stay in Seattle came to an end last week when he signed with the Tennessee Titans. It’s fair to say the guy had a pretty good career including a Super Bowl appearance, though it was the worst Super Bowl ever, as well as five other seasons in which the Seahawks made the playoffs. What I was not aware of though was just how much Seattle hearts Matt Hasselbeck.
In addition to the classy, succinct ad run by the organization, fans of the Seahawks have taken to Twitter with a “#ThankYouMatt” hashtag that features a waterfall of emotion. The wounds are still fresh from the uprooting of the Sonics and the baseball team that represents their city right now is not a baseball team, so I completely understand their appreciation of something that isn’t awful.
Nonetheless, this is what most of us will think of whenever Matt Hasselbeck’s name comes up. Hard not to cringe:

The irony is that he threw a pick 6 to lose against Brett Favre, who we consider the Rembrandt of throwing picks in the wrong situations.

But he sure does look like a kid out there. Look at him having so much joy playing a child’s game.

Everyone pretty much agrees that the Seahawks-Steelers Super Bowl was fixed, right? Every time Seattle made a big play, there was some bullshit penalty called against them.
