There is finally some great news regarding the health of UFC bantamweight Raoni Barcelos, who was hospitalized following his Fight of the Year candidate bout against Raul Rosas Jr. at UFC Vegas 121 last weekend.
Barcelos collapsed to the mat in the fifth round with Rosas’ weight laying on top of him, before he was loaded onto a stretcher and into an ambulance to be transported to the hospital for CT scans. Barcelos never regained consciousness in the cage, and cageside doctors were checking for his pulse, so there was obvious concern.
Luckily, Barcelos’ team sent out an update from the ambulance that he was awake and able to move all of his extremities. Once in the hospital, Barcelos was able to speak and began updating fans on his condition.
Now, four days later, Barcelos has taken the biggest step in his recovery to date and has been discharged from the hospital.

Barcelos has been keeping his fans updated on his condition since the terrifying moment, but there is still no official word on what went wrong. It may have been nothing more than extreme exhaustion, and the good news is he has been discharged and can continue recovering from the epic war at home.
As for whether we will ever see the 39-year-old Barcelos back in the cage, that is a decision he will have to make alongside his family, his doctors, his team, and the UFC.
