Fan Fights in the Stands Delayed the Wagner - Bryant NEC Championship Game For 25 Minutes

The Bryant Bulldogs beat the Wagner Seahawks in the NEC Championship Game on Tuesday night, 70-43. While Wagner trailed by 26 at the half, the game was not without drama as fans fought in the stands and Wagner players tried to join them.

Apparently two busloads of Wagner fans made the trek from Staten Island to Smithfield, Rhode Island for the game. Very few of them saw how it ended. With the game already decided and less than five minutes remaining, chaos broke out behind the Wagner bench. Fans fought and players attempted to get into the stands, but were held back.

The game was delayed for 25 minutes as officials reviewed footage. They briefly considerered clearing the gym, but decided to let the home fans stay so they could storm the court and celebrate the school's first ever trip to March Madness.
