Tom Watson Says He Played Like a "Hack" in His Final Round at The Open Championship

By Michael Shamburger

Tom Watson finished up his last round at The Open Championshipon the Old Course at St. Andrews on Friday. When Watson got to the Swilcan Bridge, he took a picture with playing partners Ernie Els and Brandt Snedeker, and his son Michael, and pointed to the sky. In his post-round interview, Tom Rinaldi asked Watson who he was pointing at.

"There are some special people in my life and they’re no longer here."

Rinaldi then asked what did Watson think those people looked down and saw.

"A hack, coming in. I stunk up the joint. I hate to finish that way."

Watson has won The Open Championship five times in his career and lost in a playoff with Stewart Cink in 2009, but never won on the Old Course.
