The Gamecocks are off to a 2-4 start this year. Speculation that the end was near for the 7o-year-old coach has gained steam with the team’s struggles since three consecutive 11-win seasons from 2011-2013.
Spurrier has compiled a 228-89 collegiate record with Duke, Florida and South Carolina. He won the 1996 national title with the Gators in addition to six SEC championships.
