Nick Saban After Auburn's Game-Winning Touchdown: "I told you!"

We’ll probably never get the full, true story on Alabama’s decision to kick a 57-yard field goal with :01 left against Auburn in the Iron Bowl. Who made the call to trot out the freshman backup kicker in such a big spot with the season on the line? Adam Griffith had attempted just two field goals this season, making a chip shot against Tennessee and missing another against Georgia State. The announcers said Griffith was making bombs in warmups, but this decision to kick was pure lunacy. And it ended in disaster, with Auburn’s Chris Davis sprinting 109 yards for the shocking game-winning score.

Would Nick Saban really make such a bad call? The best coach in the country was already having a rough 4th quarter, as Alabama was stopped on 4th and 1 in field goal range (good decision, terrible play-call), and his other kicker, Cade Foster, had a field goal attempt blocked (I would have gone for it or pooch-punted instead of giving Auburn the ball at the 35). Why didn’t they throw a hail mary pass?

At any rate, this GIF will be heavily scrutinized until Saban reveals what was said. It appears he starts with, “I told you” and then it’s just a guess at what he is saying. Could it be, “that was going to happen?”
