Manti Te’o just ran the 40 at the NFL Combine: 4.81. Mike Mayock of the NFL Network had said all weekend that Te’o’s 40 time had to be under 4.8 for him to remain in the first round. (It should be noted Peter King said he’d be surprised if Te’o fell below Cincinnati at 21.) Te’o will run another 40 and could possibly improve his time. He didn’t do the bench press. I don’t want to say his stock is cratering, but between the fake girlfriend, the horrible showing in the BCS title game and everything else … my guess today is he’ll fall into the 2nd round.

Kevin Minter, an inside linebacker from LSU, ran a 4.82. Minter, who had one of the best halves of football last Fall (see here) could be the 2nd inside LB taken before Te’o (the first being Alec Ogletree, assuming he doesn’t get arrested again).

This morning on the Dan Patrick show, Mike Florio said that teams still want to know if Manti Te’o is gay (3:52).
