Julian Green, temporarily, gave the U.S. National Team life with an incredible goal in the second period of stoppage time. Green converted a chip from Michael Bradley to make the score 2-1, but the U.S. couldn’t get another. Belgium keeper Thibaut Courtois stoned Clint Dempsey from point blank range on a set piece, to end the American World Cup dreams in the Round of 16 for the second straight World Cup.

The future looks bright with Green, but that’s not the story in the immediate aftermath of that gut-wrenching defeat.
